Black Pine: Incident Response is a multiplayer horror survival game set in the Appalachian Mountains. Your team has been dispatched to restore critical infrastructure. But as you take on perilous repairs strange and unknown forces begin to emerge. Dark secrets haunt these mountains, turning every task into a potential nightmare.

• Prototyped ECS version of core game (including functional UI mockups, networking, first & third person cameras, player movement, additive scene loading, etc).


• Ported prototype and networking to be Unity GameObject friendly (non-ECS) or agnostic.


• Added in-game developer shell with logging channels, dev toggles, value status banners, and a common dev UI to easily display handy info to assist debugging.


• Debugged and fixed errors in beta libraries (unity and 3rd party), debugged & corrected networking issues related to Unity 6 beta, assisted in migration to LTS version.


• Added ParrelSync and Multi-player Play Tool support. Developed a 'quick stage' tool to auto start the current scene as a 2 player networked session to support faster design iteration.


• Integrated steam support, created build & deployment scripts for dev, local, and Steam builds.


• Added Unity UI Toolkit (CSS + UXML) wrappers to reduce boilerplate code and ease additions of custom elements & behaviors.


• Implemented screen flow control, validation gates, and routing systems, and unified service setup, teardown, and system event handling.


• Developed shader based screen transition effects, modal dialog and toast systems, various custom popups and settings screens.


• Built out game 'backend' and services including login & profile management, lobbies, networking, voice chat via Vivox, and asset caching.


• Created additive scene loading and object spawning system (with optional ECS support), profiled scenes and implemented strategies to reduce load times.


• Added player options system with dynamically generated UI, support for field groups, common data types, and system update and polling linkages, with backing via playerprefs, json, or Unity serialization.


• Added system capabilities polling and ranking system, leveraged this and the options system to quickly add automated settings suggestions.


• Assisted fellow developers with system architecture, design, debugging, and humble insights (ex. prototyping vs maintainability).


• Did numerous 'deep-dives' into strange lands to correct persistent bugs and investigate performance and networking issues.
